Ladies' tea at Irving Place...

It was listed in Tea Time Magazine, I still recall the paragraph being at the top of the page. In New York City? Okay Google maps, show me the way!

Exclusively recognized by a charming small teacup engraved plaque on the building's facade, the tearoom is located at 56 Irving Place in the heart of New York City's Gramercy Park. Lady Mendl's Tea Salon is open Wednesday through Friday from one to four pm, Saturday and Sunday from noon to five. We made our reservation for a Thursday at one o'clock.

Traffic proved a willing participant in the day's adventure, allowing us to arrive several minutes before scheduled. We were escorted into the parlor of the adjacent hotel and settled into an antique settee near the front windows, admiring the eclectic furnishings around us. Here is a video of our sojourn.

The food was divine! Fresh watermelon with feta and mint to start, followed by an assortment of miniature sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, jam and lemon curd, slices of silky vanilla gateau de crepes, finishing famously with a plate of petit fours. Unique here was the fact we were offered a second plate of sandwiches which we gladly accepted, and tasted five different teas paired by our server for each course. It was the perfect le déjeuner!

Ladies who lunch? Oh yes, with ladies' tea exclusively at Irving Place...xoxo-Sonya
