This year is the ultimate homage to Prince. And I'm not referring to Justin Timberlake's half-time concert. It's all according to Pantone.
Ultra Violet was pronounced Pantone Color of the Year 2018 in December, and since has quickly painted plentiful industry and genre. Fact is, modern science has exposed much more about purple than our ancestors originally conceived. Purple is the most powerful visible wavelength of electromagnetic energy, just a few steps away from x-rays and gamma rays. This may explain why the color is often associated with supernatural energy and the cosmos more than with the physical world we know.

In ancient civilizations, the color's rarity in nature and expense to create deemed it one of power and royalty. Today it is still associated with nobility, luxury, sacredness and even bravery, thus the decorated military Purple Heart.
Ultra Violet conveys positive possibility. It is said to have the power to uplift, calm nerves and encourage creativity, making it an all-inclusive color. No wonder trending hair, make-up and beauty products reflect depth with richness of this shade.
On the runway, in the streets, and accessorizing accents all reign supreme in fashion. From Holiday 2017, continuing into Spring and Fall 2018, the color can be seen outfitted together in varied shades or solo for prestigious pop.
Beautiful interiors are elegant and regal, or modern and eclectic. Bold walls and carefully mastered classics highlighted in purple create different moods and surroundings. Pigment, upholstery and home goods bathe in grand color and character.
And what about plans for the ultimate wedding of 2018? From breathtaking floral arrangements to graduated layers of tinted butter cream and sweetness, unique color-rich opportunity play host to a multitude of seemingly endless possibility to create the event of the year.
With a sense of mystic and royal quality, ultra violet is well liked by very creative types. It is my personal favorite and signature color branding a little something makes all the difference. Hail Pantone's purple reign... xoxo-Sonya
