Winter is here: Game of Thrones fashion wins...

by - Wednesday, September 19, 2018

Seven seasons in three months, we are caught up with the masses and have to wait until April next year for the final series end. Robert and I were hooked from the second episode. The entire production is enthralling. It is no surprise Game of Thrones won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, a third time mind you, adding to their impressive accolade of a whopping forty-seven. It is smart, complicated, extravagant, intricate....

That equally describes the costume design!

Taking a closer look at Game of Thrones seventh season, I combed the Winter 2018 collections and what I found is really notable. Shapes, details, construction and fabrics spotted in the current collections appear to be definitely influenced by the series.

Fabric manipulation, sheared-fur patterning, capelets, and regal embellishments were alive and runway-ready from well-known designer houses such as Alberta Ferretti and Dior, as well as luxe brands Meriko and Femenina.

The spotlight was specific on shoulders, in stylized portrait necklines and carefully capped sleeves squaring off a strong shoulder-line with distinct proportions.

Warrior looks with belted trench styling, leather and avant-garde seaming details echo the costume ensembles. White as snow with silver portrays the ice crystal, fancy frost ornamentation in crisp, clean couturier cuts.

Yes, winter is here on the 2018 runways in Game of Thrones winning style... xoxo-Sonya
